Jimmy Angelov is in his 13th year of teaching at Lynhurst, and each year seems to be more rewarding than before. He is the lead Spanish teacher and AVID instructor at LHC; Jimmy has always leveraged technology in his classroom to maximize class time and provide instructional support. He’s been able to utilize the Breakout Room feature of Google Meet to facilitate authentic conversations and peer editing in his Spanish and AVID classes.
A well-known assignment associated with AVID is the autobiographical essay titled, Walk a Mile in My Shoes. “This year, I assigned the students to different Breakout Rooms and had each one share their screen and have their essay reviewed by their peer.”
Mr. Angelov has seen the increased use of technology as an “opportunity to connect” and support student learning in a more meaningful way.
