When we went virtual in March, I didn’t want to just make videos with a voiceover. I wanted to make sure my students still saw me.

I enjoy using Screencast-O-Matic because it gives the option to show your screen as well as show you talking, a video within the video. Some of my other favorite options in Screencast include: being able to move the video of yourself to different corners of the screen; a circle highlighting your mouse so that students can follow what you’re pointing to; a crop option that allows you to only capture the part of the screen you want; and the ability to pause recording if needed and pick back up where you left off. Screencast also gives you the option to name your video and publish it directly to youtube or google drive. The google drive option is great because it also lets you pick the folder in which you want to save it.

Screencast has a free option for 15 minute videos, which I use weekly for elearning and help videos if students miss class. I would suggest it to anyone who is looking for a user friendly video recording option!
